Three Quick Ways To Study Happy Ending Massage

That’s seventeen devices, which, according to my formula, makes for forty-two and a half wires. That’s enough deep thinking for today. And looking at the snake-pit under my desk, that’s indeed what it looks like. It looks quite a bit like a toilet I would have bought last year. In the Old Navy store near Union Square in San Francisco they have twenty pairs of mechanical legs hanging from the ceiling, marching in place, wearing Old Navy pants. I wonder how long until the drop in the water level will be noticeable in the San Francisco Bay. The topic of whether the Web might ever be like a mind falls under the heading of "emergent intelligence." It’s a somewhat hoary SF theme, the idea that some day the Machine will Wake Up. A pair of people might lock themselves into an intense telepathic feedback loop, mirroring their minds back and forth until chaotic amplification takes hold. Dozens of people were talking on cellphones. Lots of people in China right now trying to buy back things that mean something to them.

remains under pressure as boss after a tepid display against extended their winless run to 10 matches.
Forest did not have a shot on target and there were some boos at full-time - a slight shift in mood for a fanbase who have been fully behind their team for virtually the whole season. In a statement last week, owner Evangelos Marinakis called for an immediate improvement in results and performances and since then, Forest have lost twice without scoring.
Cooper's men are in the bottom three only on goal difference but the club are believed to have sounded out other managers - even though there is little time to make a significant impact on a team whose confidence is draining away.

‘We all have to do more, starting with me,' Cooper said. ‘There is a lot of scrutiny on us due to our league position and the time of the season that it is. We know that we have to turn the performances into results.
‘We got into some decent positions and there were some things that we should have done better with. But I don't think that the lack of composure was down to our league position.
(image: ) Steve Cooper remains under pressure after Nottingham Forest's 2-0 defeat to Man United
(image: ) Cooper hailed the atmosphere at the City Ground, but rued a marginal first half handball call
‘The atmosphere was great again today, the fans really got behind us. The result is tough one to take. Another tough day.'
Cooper was also hugely frustrated at a marginal handball call in the first half. It is thought Maguire was reprieved as it was decided his movement was limited in a crowded penalty area.
‘I think it's a penalty, the Harry Maguire one,' said Cooper. ‘A really poor error. Why VAR haven't seen that is not right. It's another moment that will have big scrutiny and there's been a lot of not positive decisions and that's another.
‘That's not why we lost the game but it could have been a second yellow for Maguire. I'm biting my tongue here, for me it's a bad error. I get the referee (Simon Hooper) but how (VAR) Andy Madley hasn't seen it really needs looking at.
‘I spoke to the referee afterwards. It was all respectful but I don't think these mistakes should be happening. They are probably going to have to apologise to us, which means absolutely nothing. It is happening too many times.'
Asian stock markets: website *
Nikkei up 1.6% to break key level; dollar elevated
*
Oil prices trim gains after Saudi's big cuts to output
*
Markets wagers Fed to pause in June, sees risk of July hike
By Stella Qiu
SYDNEY, June 5 (Reuters) - Most Asian stock markets extended a global rally on Monday on optimism the Federal Reserve would pause its rate hikes this month after a mixed U.S. jobs report, while oil jumped after Saudi Arabia pledged big output cuts.
Brent oil rose 1% to $76.89 a barrel, giving up some of its earlier gains to as high as $78.73, while U.S. crude climbed 1.2% to $72.61 a barrel, after hitting a session high of $75.06.
Oil prices have recently come under pressure amid heightened concerns about China's slowing economic recovery.
They rose after Saudi Arabia announced it would cut its output to 9 million barrels per day in July, from around 10 million bpd in May, the biggest reduction in years, while a broader OPEC+ deal to limit supply into 2024 also underpinned futures.
"With Saudi Arabia protecting oil prices from sliding too low ... we think oil markets are now more prone to a shortfall later this year," said Vivek Dhar, a mining and energy commodities strategist at Commonwealth Bank of Australia.
"We think Brent futures will rise to $US85/bbl by Q4 2023 even with a tepid demand recovery in China factored in."
On Monday, MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan gained 0.2%, while Japan's Nikkei surged 1.7% to stand above 32,000 for the first time since July 1990.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index rose 0.6% while China's bluechips underperformed with a drop of 0.4%.
S&P 500 futures dipped 0.1% and Nasdaq futures dropped 0.3% in Asian hours, after a strong rally on Friday, driven by a mixed U.S. jobs report, a resolution to the debt-ceiling issue and the prospect of a U.S. rate pause this month.
Data on Friday showed U.S. economy added 339,000 jobs last month, higher than most estimates, but moderating wage growth and rising jobless rate led markets to continue to bet on no change in Fed rates this month, with a 75% chance priced in for that, according to CME FedWatch tool.
However, there is about a 70% probability that Fed funds rates would reach 5.25-5.5% or beyond at the policy meeting in July and little chance of a rate cut by the end of this year.
Treasury yields continued to climb on Monday. Yields on U.S. two-year Treasuries rose 4 basis points to 4.5449%, on top of a surge of 16.2 bp on Friday, and 10-year yields also climbed 3 bps to 3.7215%, after a rise of 8 bps on Friday.
Fitch Ratings said the United States' "AAA" credit rating would remain on negative watch, despite the debt agreement.
The U.S. dollar remained elevated on Monday at 104.14 against its major peers, after gaining 0.5% on Friday on the jobs report. The greenback also rose 0.16% on the Japanese yen to 140.17 while the euro eased 0.1% to $0.10698.
Central banks from Australia and Canada will meet this week. Markets see a sizeable chance - about 40% - that the RBA could surprise with a quarter-point hike on Tuesday, after a minimum wages decision that some economists feared could further stoke inflationary pressures.
The Bank of Canada will meet on Wednesday. A majority of economists polled by Reuters expect the BOC to keep interest rates on hold at 4.5% for the rest of the year although the risk of one more rate hike remains high.
(Editing by Himani Sarkar and Sam Holmes)
Feel free to visit my web page: https://kapalslot.pages.dev/ ( https://kapalslot.pages.dev/ )

THESSALONIKI, Greece (AP) - A Moroccan migrant who was injured by gunfire while crossing from Turkey into Greece Thursday is being hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries, Greek officials said.
A police statement said the 30-year-old man was found trying to cross the river Evros - Meric in Turkish - that runs along the land border, in a small boat with two other men. He had a gunshot wound in the back, apparently inflicted by somebody on the Turkish side.
The boat reached the Greek side, where the man was taken to hospital. The other two were uninjured. Greek police said the Moroccan man told them he had been shot by the Turkish gendarmerie. But they added that they were examining every possibility as to who had fired at him from the Turkish side - including whether migrant-smugglers might have been involved.
The river, on Greece's northeastern border with Turkey, is a major crossing point for people trying to surreptitiously enter Greece.
Earlier this week, Greek officials with the newly elected Turkish government in an effort to counter a surge in attempted crossings.
Patrols along the Greek bank of the river have been intensified following a recent drop in the water level that makes migrant crossings easier.<br https://eyangslot.pages.dev/ https://eyangslot.pages.dev/

Head coach, technical director, chairman and chief scout rolled into one: meet Arne Slot —
The Dutchman is a cutting-edge operator who understands the psychology of the modern-day footballer. He can be a shoulder to cry on, but is equally happy to dish out kicks up the backside if required. He will quickly create a siege mentality and place a huge emphasis on team bonding.
'Players like him. He understands people, that's his biggest strength,' said a source.

Of course, it will take more than that to resuscitate a club who appeared in a final just four years ago but are now lurching towards mediocrity. It is a good start, though.
Slot's attacking brand of football will excite supporters who long for a return to Spurs' stylistic traditions. The pragmatic, and often drab, performances under Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte have created memories fans are desperately trying to forget.
(image: ) Arne Slot (pictured) is expected to be appointed as Tottenham manager for next season
(image: ) The 44-year-old Dutchman recently led Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title in Holland
If Slot, 44, delivers the type of effervescent football his title-winning Feyenoord team have conjured then it will not be long before those fans are on side.
His approach is defined by energy: high-octane pressing Jurgen Klopp would marvel at, a relentless devotion to attacking football Pep Guardiola would admire, and a diligent approach to defending Mourinho would applaud.
Slot will implement a fluid 4-3-3 system that relies on possession, or more importantly, regaining it as quickly as possible. He will likely play with two holding midfielders, while the attacking impetus will be placed on wide players to deliver chances for the central striker. Tactically, he can build a team from scratch but is not too proud to change when things are not working.
Slot empowers his staff to make in-game decisions — and he will applaud coaches in public if they have successfully contributed. All this will be music to Spurs supporters' ears. So too, Daniel Levy.
The Tottenham chairman vowed for so long to return to the club's attacking roots; only then to employ Mourinho and Conte. But if Feyenoord's seamless combination of eye-catching flair and defensive resoluteness is anything to go by then Levy may well be ready to finally deliver on his promise.
Slot has a charismatic charm that makes him endearing. His English is excellent, too. One of his strengths is being able to control external narratives through the media. 'He is a very friendly and likeable guy, he uses that,' said another source. Yet there remains reason for caution. 'Arne's a top coach, but he isn't necessarily easy,' said a source. 'He runs the whole club at Feyenoord, he has all the power.'
If, as expected, Slot is appointed Spurs boss he will have been assured of a significant degree of control over the club's footballing operation. He would otherwise not agree to replace interim boss Ryan Mason.
So, if control-freak Levy is prepared to relinquish the reins, even slightly, it is a measure of how highly Slot is rated.
(image: ) He looks set to inherit a Tottenham squad devoid of confidence but not lacking talent
(image: ) They have been without a permanent manager since Antonio Conte's sacking in March
(image: ) (image: ) Cristian Stellini (left) and Ryan Mason (right) have both struggled as acting managers this term
However, those who have worked with him describe someone who can be overpowering.
Mail Sport has learned that a number of Feyenoord scouts and recruitment specialists recently left the club because of the way Slot insisted they operate.
Equally, tensions behind the scenes at Feyenoord have been exacerbated in recent weeks as it became clear Slot would use the success of this season as leverage to secure a more prestigious job in Europe.
Feyenoord have grown increasingly concerned that his agent, Rafaela Pimenta, has been hawking their head coach to rival clubs while the team were looking to win their first championship since 2017.
In addition, Feyenoord have already delivered two signings on Slot's recommendation — Ramiz Zerrouki and Thomas van den Belt — for a combined total of £7million, a major outlay for a club their size.
Most of the unhappiness is directed at Pimenta. How can they be mad at a head coach who has transformed the club's fortunes in just two seasons since he arrived from AZ Alkmaar?
Yet Feyenoord's angst is understandable and Tottenham should be wary. Slot was abruptly sacked by AZ Alkmaar in December 2020 after owner Robert Eenhoorn was informed that Slot had attended a clandestine meeting with Feyenoord about replacing then manager, Dick Advocaat.
Slot also revels in being at the heart of transfer negotiations. 'He can be frustrating for a lot of people — but he wins,' said a source. Slot is hungry. He has a desire to test himself in one of Europe's top leagues. Leeds tried to lure Slot to Elland Road after Jesse Marsch was sacked in February. He was open to joining despite the fact his team were gunning for the Eredivisie title.
(image: ) For Slot to succeed, Daniel Levy will have to relinquish some control of the club
It is no surprise, then, that he wants the Tottenham position. If all goes according to plan, Slot will have the opportunity to test himself in what he has already described as the 'biggest and best' league in the world.
But with just four years of managerial experience, is he ready for the biggest step of his career?
When he took over at Feyenoord, they were at rock bottom. Slot has exceeding expectations, but it must be said that the expectations were virtually non-existent.
Is he ready for a club such as Tottenham where pressure and expectation comes with the territory?
Levy will hope he slots in perfectly.
My site :: slot gacor gampang menang ( https://situs-slot-gacor-vip.blogspot.com/2023/05/rahasia-slot-gacor-tips-dan-trik-menang-bermain-slot-online.html )

Tottenham's managerial search will resume after Sunday's clash with Leeds with Ange Postecoglou, Luis Enrique and Ruben Amorim now in the spotlight.
After Arne Slot signed a new deal at Feyenoord - MailSport understands that Spurs were led to believe his exit fee would be £5m when in reality Feyenoord wanted £17m, though Tottenham deny negotiations with the Dutch club - there is no immediate end in sight. Slot, it is said, was but one candidate on a longer list.
Xabi Alonso, believed to be the No.1 choice, had ruled himself out and Postecoglou could well commit to another year at , though as he is on a rolling one-year deal, there is no expensive exit clause. Yet his ultimate ambition is to see Celtic in a Champions League knock-out stage and the team has largely been recruited by him. It is believed he wants to make good on that ambition next season.

If Enrique was the candidate Levy wanted, Spurs could have appointed him within days of Antonio Conte leaving. He would come with treble winning credentials from . But Spurs don't appear to be in a rush to appoint him.
(image: ) Tottenham's managerial search is set to continue, with Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou one of three leading candidates
(image: ) (image: ) Luis Enrique (left) and Ruben Amorim (right) are the other two names in the spotlight
(image: ) Spurs have already been turned down by their top target, Feyenoord manager Arne Slot
Indeed, several agents around Europe representing coaches who might be expected to be interviewed have had initial contact but no follow up calls. Julian Nagelsmann is understood to have been left in the dark, unsure whether Spurs wanted him or not.
Candidates who may gather momentum next week are Graham Potter and Roberto De Zerbi. The latter seems unlikely given the excellent current relationship with Tony Bloom at Brighton and the prospect of Europa League football at Brighton. But he fits everything Levy wants at the club.
So does Potter, despite his stormy eight months at Chelsea. He is certainly more of a collaborator with rather than a fighter of chairman. Among those that have studied his career long term, his reputation as one of the best coaches remains, even if Chelsea has inevitably dented it for now. His unique brand of sanity might be just what the madhouse needs.
It means Tottenham go into Sunday's clash at Leeds with many more questions than answers, not least whether this will be Harry Kane's last game for the club. The smart money is that he runs down his contract and organises a mega move next summer on a free, when all of a saved £100m transfer fee can be diverted to his wages.
Manchester United and Real Madrid are likely to inquire early next week. If business is to be done, they will want it done quick, which isn't the Tottenham way.
It's hard to recall now but it's only ten months ago when the season started amidst optimism. For those that insist Levy and owner Joe Lewis are more interested in profit than plaudits, it needs pointing out that they injected £150m of equity into the club at Conte's behest last summer.
Richarlison arrived for £52m, Yves Bissouma for £26m and Djed Spence for £13m. Where once Spurs were reluctant to sign players without re-sale value, Ivan Perisic came, apparently a ready-made top four player on high wages. They converted loan deals of Cristian Romero and Djean Kulsevski into permanent transfers.
(image: ) Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi could gather pace as an option over the next week
(image: ) As could Graham Potter, who has been out of work since being sacked by Chelsea in April
‘One thing I will say is he [Levy] spent money,' said interim coach Ryan Mason on Friday. ‘He's tried. I just think, ultimately, he's probably been let down by other people. But that's football. That happens and hopefully we can get things right quickly, make good decisions and turn things around.'
Mason has tried to steer the ship into port through the inclement weather with limited success following the Conte's departure in March and the exit of his No.2 Cristian Stellini in April.
‘We haven't won an away game since January and conceded, what, 60-plus goals [it's 62] this season?' said Mason. ‘So this isn't something that's just happened in recent weeks. Obviously, we were left in a position in the league table [when Conte left] that's probably false, in terms of other teams had games in hand. When you level them out, I think we might have been seventh. So there's a lot of things that were probably false.'
That is true but Spurs were still fourth when Conte left and on course for another Champions League finish, even if Newcastle, Liverpool and Brighton had those games in hand. They had lost nine Premier League games, though it was the dis-spiriting Cup exits which had so undermined morale. Since then Spurs have lost five in nine Premier League games.
Prior to Conte leaving they conceded 40 goals or 1.43 per game. Since then they have conceded 22 or 2.44 goals per game. Life had become toxic with Conte and the football unbearable at times. But it's still hard to believe, however bad it got, he would have let that happen on his watch.
June 22 (Reuters) - Online retailer Overstock.com has won the auction for some assets of Bed Bath & Beyond, including the bankrupt home goods chain's intellectual property and mobile platform, for $21.5 million, court filings showed on Thursday.
Last week, Overstock had offered to buy those assets for the same price under a "stalking horse" bid. Bed Bath & Beyond had then said it would continue to solicit other offers.
While Bed Bath & Beyond's stores are not part of the deal, it will include the retailer's business data and publicity rights. Overstock will also assume certain liabilities related to transferred contracts.
Shares of Overstock jumped about 12% in premarket trade.
The sale is subject to approval by the bankruptcy court at a hearing on Tuesday.
Once a high-flying company, Bed Bath & Beyond buckled under a steep drop in demand and swelling losses, and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in April.
Meanwhile, the retailer's Buy buy Baby chain, which sells products for infants and toddlers, has drawn interest from investment firm Go Global Retail and Sixth Street Partners, according to recent media reports.
(Reporting by Deborah Sophia in Bengaluru; Editing by Sriraj Kalluvila)
After a season of near perfection, Arne Slot made his first wrong move.
Asked before Feyenoord's Europa League tie with Roma playing style, Slot said: ‘I respect Roma. Their style gets results, but I prefer to watch Manchester City or Napoli. I am honest about this.'
Fair enough - unless the Roma manager happens to be Jose Mourinho, who has made a career of turning the words of rival managers to his advantage. So when , Mourinho pursued Slot down the tunnel at the Stadio Olimpico, shouting: ‘You watch Napoli, you should watch us' before heading up the stairs, ranting about ‘respect' and referring again to Napoli and City.

Slot is unlikely to be as candid next time, though he may soon need to pick up the phone to Mourinho. The and if he is , he would be wise to seek the advice of the Portuguese, who managed Spurs from 2019-21. First nugget? Be careful what you say about the opposition manager.
Verbal blunders aside, Slot's reputation is deservedly on the rise. Alongside Ajax, Feyenoord are one of the traditional giants of the Dutch game.
(image: ) Arne Slot is being heavily backed to become the next permanent Tottenham manager
(image: ) Slot won the Eredivisie with Feyenoord, the second league title the club have won this century
(image: ) He could be the perfect match for Spurs, but they will need to back him with the right staff or he could be doomed to go the way of former manager Jose Mourinho (pictured)
The club of Ruud Gullit, Ronald Koeman, Robin van Persie and Henrik Larsson, Feyenoord won the European Cup in 1970 and the UEFA Cup in 1974 and 2002, as well as 16 Dutch titles. The problem is that only one of those domestic crowns had come this century, in 2017. In the same period, PSV Eindhoven had won 10 and Ajax nine. This season, though, Feyenoord made it two, winning the Eredivisie with two games to spare.
What Slot has achieved in Rotterdam is hugely impressive. Last season Feyenoord were beaten by Roma (again) in the final of the Conference League and promptly lost key players Luis Sinisterra, Tyrell Malacia, Marcos Senesi and Fredrik Aursnes for a combined £60million.
Only half of that was spent on new players yet Feyenoord have still improved, with Slot's 4-3-3 formation and high-intensity football enough to sweep aside Ajax and PSV.
Slot is helped by a smart recruitment structure that buys low and sells high. Sinisterra joined Leeds for £21million having arrived for £1.5m. Malacia came through the ranks and moved to Manchester United for nearly £15m. Senesi was sold to Bournemouth for the same fee three years after his £6m move from San Lorenzo.
The next off the conveyor belt is likely to be Santiago Gimenez. The 22-year-old Mexican forward was bought from Cruz Azul and for £3m and has 23 goals in all competitions this term. Another significant profit incoming.
These players would not improve so rapidly under all coaches, which is where Slot comes in. The 44-year-old has revamped Feyenoord's approach, turning a dull side into one of the most progressive in Europe. Midfielders Mats Wieffer and Orkun Kokcu and right-back Lutsharel Geertruida have taken huge strides under Slot and along with Gimenez, are likely to be the next players to depart for large fees.
(image: ) It comes as Daniel Levy (right) steps up his search for a replacement for Antonio Conte
(image: ) Current interim boss Ryan Mason has put his name in the hat to become the club's next boss
(image: ) Meanwhile, Tottenham have been ruled out of the running to secure Julian Nagelsmann
After seasons of drift and bitterness, Slot could be the man to take Tottenham back to basics. With Martin Jol and later Mauricio Pochettino, Spurs became an exciting side built on the talent of young, hungry players.
This is Slot's way, too. The north Londoners and - but only if Spurs are prepared to put in place a structure that allows him to prosper.
Give him the right sporting director, and Slot can thrive - just as the Frank Arnesen/Martin Jol combination did during the early 2000s. That would involve chairman Daniel Levy taking a back seat in recruitment. Levy has always intended to do this, yet somehow has never quite been able to do pull it off.
If it is to be Slot, Spurs must put the right people around him. Otherwise the Dutchman may be doomed to go the way of Mourinho.

You don't have to be barking to work here, but it helps! As Tatler's canine star meets tragic end, ex-editor says that magazine's resident pooches are even dafter than the staff
By
Published: 20:24 EDT, 18 January 2013 | Updated: 20:24 EDT, 18 January 2013

    var googletag = googletag || {}; googletag.cmd = googletag.cmd || [];  googletag.cmd.push(function()    googletag        .defineSlot('/' + adverts.config.dfp.networkCode + '/dm.dailymailtvhouse', [638, 92], 'para_top')        .setTargeting('pos', 'para_top')        .setCollapseEmptyDiv(true, false)        .addService(googletag.pubads());              googletag.display('para_top'); );

Editorial meetings at Tatler were always a bit unconventional, made up of a fabulous cast of eccentric characters, swapping barking-mad features ideas — all to a soundtrack of actual barking from the office dogs, Steptoe and Bubble (who were as much a fixture in the offices of the high-society magazine as interns named Arabella).

Yet, one particular meeting proved more memorable than most. I was pontificating — I was Editor of the magazine at the time, it's an occupational hazard — and slowly became aware that the journalists sitting around my corner office were giving each other pointed glances, the corners of their mouths twitching as they tried not to laugh.

Annoyed by their lack of concentration, I carried on talking, raising my voice slightly to try to drown out a strange rhythmic noise that had begun to reverberate around the office.

(image: ) Hard at work: Alan was a beloved member of the Tatler team, and loved by many fans on Twitter

It was only after the meeting that I discovered Steptoe and Bubble had been enjoying a magnificent coupling — right under my desk. Think fifty shades of greyhound. Yet, miraculously, the English stiff-upper lip prevailed and no one said a word at the time.

This ability to ignore canine misdemeanours and carry on has always been vital for those who work in the offices of the society bible. But this week, the glossy magazine's obsession with pampered pooches was brought to public attention in the most tragic manner imaginable.
RELATED ARTICLES Share this article Share
The death of Alan, the beautiful Tatler office dachsund, made headlines around the world. Alan, beloved companion of editor's assistant Jennifer George, Twitter star and firm favourite of editorial, administrative and advertising staff alike, was killed after being trapped in the revolving doors at the magazine's offices, Vogue House in London.

During his short life, the puppy had acquired 2,600 Twitter followers and a clutch of celebrity fans, after staff at the magazine posted pictures of him online and frequently wrote amusing messages in his name.

While Alan's death in the care of some poor unfortunate intern, is, of course, terribly sad, it is an accident that says so much about the bizarre world of Tatler. Can you imagine any other magazine's dog having a Twitter feed? Can you imagine any other magazine having an office dog, more to the point?
(image: ) Office favourite: Alan takes a quick tea break in between his busy workload of being the most adorable member of the team

Of course, Tatler is no ordinary magazine. It's tiny for a start, with a small readership that focuses on the escapades of an even smaller clique of aristocrats and the nouveau riche — from the leggy blonde daughters of the landed gentry to flashy stars of the TV show Made In Chelsea.

The staff at Tatler are also a strange breed, a mix of very old and newly minted money. Many of the writers like to pretend their lives, and the magazine, are all about hunting, shooting and fishing.

But they're really all about money, and while parents are busy earning — or spending — said cash, their children often seek affection from their pets: hence the excessive affections for dogs and horses seen by the Tatler tribe.

Until Alan, possibly the most written about Tatler dog was Kenzo, my Cairn terrier. He accompanied me to work on rare occasions during my tenure as editor, from 1990 to 1999.

Named after the Japanese fashion designer — I remember the Armani team chastising me for not calling him Giorgio — Kenzo was my children's pet, and was usually looked after by their nanny. However, a nanny crisis one day meant that I had to bring him into work for a week, giving Kenzo the run (or rather, climb) of my office.

(image: ) Afternoon snooze: Alan makes himself comfortable as he naps on someone's desk - oblivious to deadlines and work
(image: ) Jane Procter, former editor of Tatler magazine, says dogs were a central feature of the office

A newspaper gossip column got wind of this and reported that Kenzo was a permanent resident at Tatler, and he appeared in the diary columns on an almost weekly basis from then on.

While Kenzo might have been the most famous Tatler dog, the most entertaining was certainly Studley, who had the run of Vogue House in the early Nineties (more than a century ago in dog years).

Studley was a scruffy but charismatic little West Highland terrier puppy who spent his days wandering among the lithe and lissom legs of the debutantes and the decadents who populate the Tatler offices in the heart of the West End. He was adorable and belonged to the deputy editor Rebecca Tyrrel, and at lunchtime there was always a work-experience student around to take him for a walk.

In the afternoon, when all this schmoozing got too much, he liked nothing better than to snooze in his little basket, tucked under his owner's desk, or to chew anything he could wrap his little jaws around —including, on one memorable occasion, the office wiring.

The little mite nearly bit off more than he could chew when he gnawed his way through a cable and did something terrible to the electrics of the whole of Vogue House — which also houses several other magazines.

As the editor at the time, I was called to the Managing Director's office to explain why I allowed such a dangerous creature into our offices. My pleas for mercy, and second chances were to no avail — all the dogs would have to go, he said. (For Studley wasn't the only dog in the building. There were at least two or three others at that time.)

I then explained that the dog owners were valuable journalists and if their dogs were targeted for dismissal, they too might leave. I even tried pointing out that, as some of the dog owners were childless women, the dogs were surrogate babies for them, and, as such, vital to their happiness. Still, the MD would not budge.
(image: ) The Tatler dogs, while largely adored, were not without enemies - from interns to editors, writes Jane Procter

So I tried again — and told him bluntly that we weren't paying the staff enough for them to be able to afford dog sitters. If he wanted the dogs to go, he'd have to give the staff a pay rise to compensate. The result? The dogs could stay.

Sadly, Studley's reprieve was short-lived as he died a few months later, aged just eight months, during a routine operation. His owner Rebecca, who was at her desk when she heard the news, screamed. The next morning, she found a mound of condolence cards on her desk. Studley's basket and water bowl had been tactfully removed.
(image: ) Tragedy: Vogue House - where Alan met his untimely end and where dogs rule the roost in the Tatler office

Not being much of a dog person, I was baffled that the death of Studley was treated with such reverence.

Studley's paw prints were big prints to fill, but Rebecca decided to acquire a new puppy, also a Westie, and named him Steptoe. When she and her new puppy made their debut in the office, she bumped into a colleague in the lift.

‘Is that,' asked the lovely lady who ran accounts, ‘the new one, or is it the one that died?'

Only at Tatler...

Steptoe had one role in the Tatler offices which made him invaluable —he was a brilliant tipster. One of the journalists in the office decided to set Steptoe the task of forecasting the horse-racing odds.

Every morning, the names of the horses racing that day would be laid out on the floor and, using a variety of chicken treats placed on each horse's colours, Steptoe would be asked to choose which horse he fancied. His tips were then published in a national newspaper.

Over the course of the experiment, the pooch proved to be a more reliable judge of a horse's racing ability than any professional tipster.

Yet, while Steptoe may have had a talent for gambling, his other ‘gifts' were far less welcome among Tatler staff. On one occasion, he made a visit to one editor's office and left a rather smelly ‘present' beneath her chair.

Luckily she, like most of the magazine's staff, was sanguine about the mess on her carpet. (I suppose most of the Tatler posse were brought up in draughty stately homes, where dogs leaving offerings is all part of life's rich tapestry — or what you find behind it.)

Although when one writer found Emma Parker Bowles's rescue greyhound Wally peeing into her Missoni bag, angry tears were shed.

The Tatler dogs, while largely adored, were not without enemies. Indeed, their opponents included everyone from the interns tasked with walking them on a daily basis (dragging a reluctant spaniel around in the rain plays havoc with one's blow-dry, and the poor girls live in fear that the dogs might make a break for freedom), to former editors of the magazine.

One who took umbrage with the status of dogs in the Tatler office is former editor Catherine Ostler, who now writes for the Mail. ‘In 1990, the dogs were generally unobtrusive, low-key characters aware of their place in the hierarchy,' she says. ‘By the time I returned in 2009, they had taken centre stage. The dog there then had practically built itself a corner office, or certainly a corner basket.

(image: ) Tatler's former editor says the magazine¿s journalists have plenty of time to walk, pet, feed and play with their four-legged friends, because very few of them actually do any work

‘The canines had taken over the asylum. Tatler felt like a society version of Animal Farm, where eventually dogs rather than people were in charge. If any further proof were needed, the Jubilee issue had a Corgi on the cover...'

Yet some of those working at the magazine who appeared to dislike the dogs were really more interested in settling scores with their owners.

The bitches who caused the most problems at Tatler were of the human variety.

Glossy magazines are notorious breeding grounds for back-stabbing behaviour and underhand tricks, and Tatler is no different. The magazine has a largely female staff, and the pranks played on staff members would not be out of place in a girls' boarding school.

Sometimes, the office dogs would find themselves unwitting pawns in these battles — such as when one affronted writer placed trails of chewing gum on the floor, which then got hideously tangled in the coats of an enemy's pampered pooch, a trick played to take revenge on the dog's bullying owner.

They say that people grow to look like their dogs, but, at Tatler, the dogs were far more likely to mimic the behaviour of their owners.

Imperious Travel Editor Victoria Mathers had two Pekingese dogs, Bubble and Petal, while the Associate Editor Gerri Gallagher, the warmest woman in the office, had kind dogs — Biscuit, a Lakeland terrier, followed by Tullah, a Welsh terrier, whose corner basket is sacred.

Inca, the black lab that later accompanied Ben Fogle — Tatler picture editor at the time — to the island of Taransay for the Castaway TV programme was lovely, but greedy when it came to biscuits.

Ollie, the gorgeous Blue Roan cocker spaniel that belonged to the then social editor, had a hilarious sense of entitlement — due to his mistress's habit of wrapping her mink coat around her in-tray to make a bed for him.

Indeed, during my tenure, there were often so many entitled pooches in the office, that it was a miracle we ever got a magazine out at all.

Which, of course, brings us to the real reason for Tatler's penchant for office dogs: the magazine's journalists have plenty of time to walk, pet, feed and play with their four-legged friends, because very few of them actually do any work.
